Jeremy Brilliant, a local TV journalist who announced late last month that he was leaving WTHR-TV Channel 13, has been hired as the director of communications for new Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill.

Brilliant will handle media relations and public outreach for Hill, who was sworn in as attorney general on Jan. 9.

Brilliant is a Columbus, Ohio, native who previously worked at WRTV and at stations in Louisville and Evansville. He joined WTHR in January 2007 and was the station’s sunrise reporter.

He announced his departure in late December on Facebook and revealed that he was leaving journalism, although he didn’t specify any career plans.

Hill formerly was Elkhart County's prosecutor. His staff also includes Scott Newman, former Marion County Prosecutor, who will serve as chief counsel in the advisory division.
