Smoke-Free Indy applauded the bar owners and said they’d broken with an especially strong tendency among gay
bars to allow smoking.
Phil Denton, owner of Greg’s at 231 E. 16th St., said he decided to survey customers after
employees repeatedly relayed complaints about smoking. He posted the results at the bar on a large sign that also notified
customers.
In the survey, 468 customers, or 73 percent, said Greg’s should be smoke-free. Most said a smoke-free
policy would either make them want to go to the bar more often (45 percent), or have no effect (34 percent).
