Blasdel will take the position April 17, succeeding Ian Nicolini, who handled the job for more than two years before leaving the position in November to become vice president of Indianapolis economic development at the Indy Chamber.
Blasdel most recently worked as senior analyst of project finance at AES Corp., the parent company of Indianapolis Power & Light.
He has served as the treasurer of the Speedway Community Development Corp. since 2014.
From 2008 to 2012, Blasdel worked in former Gov. Mitch Daniels' administration, with roles in the Indiana Finance Authority and the Office of Management and Budget.
Blasdel is a graduate of DePauw University and earned his MBA from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
“We are thrilled that Jacob Blasdel will bring his extensive financial management experience to the Town of Speedway,” Speedway Town Council President Gary Raikes said in written remarks. “As Speedway continues to grow our economy, attract new jobs and investment, and strategically plan for our future, Jacob is the type of leader we need in the town manager role.”
Blasdel will work with Tim Gropp, who joined Speedway as economic/redevelopment director earlier this month.
