costing 48 employees their jobs.
The closure will leave the metropolitan area with eight Kmart stores — five
in Indianapolis, and one each in Anderson, Brownsburg and Greenwood.
The company for years has struggled to keep
pace with rivals Wal-Mart and Target, whose supercenter stores have proven more popular with consumers.
Kmart
purchased Sears in 2005.
