Compton Mechanical Systems Inc., a 35-year-old Indianapolis-based contractor, has been acquired by Houston-based Comfort Systems USA Inc., the companies announced this week.

Financial terms of the acquisition, which closed June 6, were not disclosed.

Compton Mechanical, which provides commercial and residential heating, cooling, plumbing and other mechanical services, has been combined with Comfort Systems USA’s local subsidiary, Comfort Systems USA Indiana.

All 30 of Compton Mechanical’s employees have joined the combined business, giving Comfort Systems USA Indiana a total of 63 employees.

Derrick Compton, the former principal owner of Compton Mechanical, has joined the management team at Comfort Systems USA Indiana.

Compton Mechanical, which is headquartered at 8812 Americana Blvd., near West 86th Street and Interstate 465, has customers throughout the state.

Comfort Systems USA Indiana is based at 2701 Fortune Circle Drive East, near I-465 and I-70 on the city’s southwest side.

“We are extremely happy to announce the Compton Mechanical Services acquisition, which expands our footprint in the Indiana market,” said Rob Van, Comfort Systems USA Indiana’s president, in written remarks. “Compton Mechanical Services has been providing superior service for its customers for more than 30 years.”

Comfort Systems USA is a 20-year-old publicly traded company that has 36 subsidiary businesses throughout the United States. It reported $1.63 billion in revenue in 2016 and a profit of nearly $65 million.
