Owner Ted Novicki established Ted's Aqua Marine in 1977. Located at 4600 Bluff Road, the company sells boats and ATVs and also offers boat service, winterization and storage.
Novicki announced his retirement this month in letters to his customers. “It’s time for me to move on to the next phase of my life,” he said in a letter dated June 20.
“It has been my pleasure serving you over the years and wish you the very best. I want to express my many thanks to all of you for all my success for so many years and making it all possible,” Novicki wrote.
In a letter dated June 5 and posted on the comany's Facebook page, Novicki said he had put the business up for sale. It's not clear whether that effort was successful. Novicki did not return a call from IBJ on Tuesday morning.
The Facebook page says the store will close on Aug. 31. The company’s web site also references the closure, proclaiming a "going out of business sale" and that "everything must go." The web site lists five staffers, including Novicki.
"I will see you on the water, at car shows, jeep rallies, campgrounds, motorcycle rides and snowmobiling," Novicki said in the June 5 letter. "I hope to travel lots and have a lot of new and exciting experiences during my retirement. My life is good."
