A New York-based capital fund said it completed its $33 million purchase of Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. last week. The renamed Fleetwood RV Inc. has already accepted more than 1,000 applications at its plant in the city about 20 miles south of Fort Wayne.
Company President John Draheim said Fleetwood expects to employ about 650 people by next month. He said former workers who accept positions with the new company will be paid about 10 percent less than before.
Fleetwood’s Decatur operations employed more than 1,000 people in early 2008. The company cut 550 jobs in Decatur last year.
