As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowMeteorologist Brittany Rainey is heading to Florida after a two-year stint in Indianapolis as a weather and traffic reporter on Fox 59 and CBS4 in Indianapolis.
Rainey, a Florida State University graduate, announced last week that she would be leaving WXIN-TV Channel 59 and WTTV-TV Channel 4 for a gig at WTVT-TV Channel 13, the Fox affiliate in Tampa.
Her last day in Indianapolis was Feb. 26.
“I have some bittersweet news,” the Florida native said on Facebook. “I am sad to be leaving Indianapolis, but I am headed home to Tampa!”
During her 10-year career, Rainey also worked at TV stations in in Missoula, Montana; Hastings, Nebraska; Huntington, West Virginia; and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In Indianapolis, Rainey typically handled weekend duties but frequently filled in on other newscasts throughout the week.
Officials at Fox 59 and CBS4, which are both owned by the Tribune Co., did not respond to questions about Rainey’s departure and her possible replacement.
