Indianapolis Fire Department officials said late Monday morning that water flooded the Noodles & Company eatery at 121 W. Maryland St. and also breached Dick's Last Resort next door at 111 W. Maryland St. A photo of Noodles and Company released by IFD showed at least an inch of standing water in the restaurant.
IFD officials said they were investigating what caused the flooding, likely related to a leak in a standpipe. A standpipe is a rigid water pipe built into multistory buildings that firefighters use for connecting hoses.
The fire in the garage was believed to have started in a 2005 Kia van and then spread to a nearby Dodge Charger. The fire was put under control quickly without any injuries, IFD reported.
