Loco co-owner Erick Carrasco said Tuesday he has leased the former Santorini Greek Kitchen building in Fountain Square, where he plans to open another Loco as soon as mid-October.
Remodeling on the 6,000-square-foot building at 1417 Prospect St. could begin as early as next week, he said.
Santorini closed at the end of March after 15 years in the building and 17 years of operations in Fountain Square.
Carrasco said business is going well enough at his first restaurant that he feels comfortable opening a second. He plans to keep the same Tex-Mex-style menu and sizable cocktail list as the first location.
The new eatery should have room for about 160 patrons indoor plus another 45 outside, he said. It also has space for a banquet room.
He said he has lease options on the new location that could let him operate there for up to 15 years.
Carrasco, a longtime local bartender and restaurant manager, opened Loco at 2205 N. Delaware St. in a location where two previous tenants had quickly gone out of business.
