Subscribe NowThe first Indianapolis Fall Carnival took place Oct. 9-12, 1900, and included two parades daily, including the Floral Parade on Oct. 10, in which horse-drawn carriages and floats were decorated by the city’s landscape artists and florists. This float—carrying the Indianapolis News Newsboys Band—was headed down the 200 block of East Washington Street past Iske Bros. Furniture, which was bought a few years later by the Oilar Brothers Co.
