As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowIndianapolis-based Republic Airways Holdings Inc. said it has fixed an overnight systems glitch that disrupted some of its flights, but its schedule is still not yet back to normal.
The problem started around 10:20 p.m. Thursday and involved a system that communicates to aircraft and Republic’s flight partners, said Republic spokesman Jon Austin. Some flights were delayed or canceled as a result, he said.
Late Friday morning, Austin said he did not have information as to how many flights had been affected.
Republic operates about 950 daily flights to 100 cities in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Central America for American Airlines Group Inc., Delta Air Lines Inc. and United Airlines Inc.
Austin said the issue has now been resolved, though lingering scheduling issues remain.
“Our communications system is operating normally, but last night's disruption will affect a part of our schedule today,” Austin told IBJ in an email. “We are working with our partners to minimize the impact on our passengers and we sincerely apologize to everyone whose travel plans were affected by this situation.”
Republic has its corporate offices, including its flight scheduling operations, on Indianapolis’ north side. It opened a pilot training academy near Indianapolis International Airport last year, and it operates 11 crew bases and 11 maintenance bases at airports around the U.S., including both a crew base and a maintenance base in Indianapolis.
