Chris Michalski will oversee BMO Harris’s business in Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota and Kansas. He has more than 25 years of banking experience and most recently served as head of U.S. mortgage sales for the bank.
BMO Harris is the fifth largest bank in the Indianapolis market based on deposits, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. The bank had 5.6 percent of local deposits—nearly $2.9 billion—as of June 30. It has about 37 branches and 227 employees in the area.
The bank is based in Chicago, and its corporate parent is Toronto, Canada-based Bank of Montreal.
Michalski succeeds Brad Smith, who left BMO in June. Bernard Narine, who was appointed regional president for Chicago’s south region, had served as interim leader for Indiana.
