About 90,000 people are anticipated to attend the Grissom Air and Space Expo the weekend of Sept. 7, the Kokomo Tribune reported.
The last air show at the base drew about 60,000 people in 2003. This year's headliner will be the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds aerial demonstration team. The U.S. Army Golden Knights also will appear.
The event is free and open to the public.
Doug Hays, a spokesman for the base's 434th Air Refueling Wing, said the air show will have a major impact on the local economy and that many of the people who attend will be from out of town.
