Subscribe NowAs a cardiologist and a member of the American Heart Association’s board of directors, I want to thank Indiana Sen. Todd Young for co-sponsoring the Tobacco to 21 Act in an effort to reduce the harmful burden that tobacco holds on our youth.
Studies show that 95% of tobacco users start before they are 21. By raising the minimum legal sales age for all tobacco products to 21 nationwide we will reduce tobacco use, nicotine addiction and tobacco-related disease and death.
On behalf of the American Heart Association, public health advocates and future generations who will be protected, thank you! I hope other members of Congress will join you in supporting swift passage of this landmark legislation.
