The university said it joined the collaboration, which includes several other research institutions, to help reverse national trends in opioid misuse and overdose.
More than 130 Americans die every day from opioids, both from prescription painkillers and illegal drugs like heroin, fentanyl and carfentanil. That number has quadrupled over the past 20 years.•
