A news conference
is scheduled for this afternoon to formally announce plans to construct a custom home for a deserving family in the region.
Anderson-based Hallmark Homes will build the house and is coordinating partnerships, volunteers and donations.
This
spring, the show tackled a project in Indianapolis’ Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood with the help of local home builder
The Estridge Cos. Thousands of individuals volunteered their time and about 200 companies also helped.
Five area
families are being considered for the new show. Host Ty Pennington will show up on the selected family’s
doorstep Oct. 21 to get the project started. The home is expected to be completed by Oct. 27.
Hallmark already has signed up a number of business and community partners, but it is seeking volunteers,
sponsorships and donations. Information is available online at www.hallmarkextreme.com.
“The
real excitement comes in knowing how much the people who volunteer on this project will be changed,”
Hallmark CEO Derek Wilder said in a prepared statement. “It’s a great thing to be part of
something bigger than yourself.”
