Alling takes over for Martin Coles, who was promoted to chief operating officer of the Starbucks parent company.
Alling, who jumped to Starbucks from Nestle USA in 1997, most recently was president of Starbuck’s domestic coffee operations. In those two years he opened 2,700 stores.
At DePauw, he majored in economics and Spanish, then received an MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management.
