Dow Jones’ board will meet this evening, although the newspaper said it is unclear how the Bancroft family, which owns 64 percent of Dow Jones’ voting power, will react.
The price of $60 per share, or $5 billion, is the same as when news of News Corp.’s offer was brought to light in April.
The offer by News Corp. and its owner, Rupert Murdoch, has stirred controversy because many outside observers as well as members of the Journal editorial staff fear Murdoch will impose his views on news coverage.
