The Indianapolis transportation engineering company Farrar Garvey & Associates Inc. has been acquired for an undisclosed price by Clark Dietz Inc., an engineering firm that handles civil, mechanical and electrical engineering.

Clark Dietz’s eight offices are in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Its largest office is in Champaign, Ill., and its president operates from Chicago.

Farrar Garvey’s only office is at 8925 N. Meridian St. It was owned by brothers John and Mike Farrar; both will be Clark Dietz shareholders. John Farrar will be vice president and manager of transportation services in Indiana; Mike Farrar will be vice president in charge of business development and client relationships.

John Farrar said in a statement that the sale was precipitated by a need to grow.

The 28 Farrar Garvey workers will move to Clark Dietz’s office at Keystone Crossing, making a total of 35 local workers. Clark Dietz has 10 employees in Evansville, the company’s only other office in Indiana.
