Dallas-based Affiliated Computer Services Inc. plans to a data outsourcing operation in Anderson, creating 500 customer service jobs over the next two years, said city economic development consultant Greg Winkler.

Officials from the data outsourcing company, along with Gov. Mitch Daniels and Anderson officials, are scheduled to make a formal announcement this afternoon.
About 200 jobs paying $10 an hour will be created by the end of the year, Winkler said. Another 200 will be added by November 2008 and another 100 in 2009.

City officials plan to ask that Madison County residents fill at least 75 percent of the jobs, Winkler said. It’s likely the two sides will agree that ACS will pull as many workers from the county as it can without agreeing to a specific number.

ACS will lease about 36,000 square feet in Anderson’s Flagship Park.
