Two former executives of Chicago-based Ubiquity Brands, which owns Jays Foods Inc. and Select Snacks Co., say they were fired without cause when the company recently restructured.

Ubiquity sold another unit to ConAgra Foods Inc. in September; Jays and Select Snacks have filed for bankruptcy protection.

William McManaman, the company’s former chief financial officer, and Gary Rietz who had been its chief information officer say they are due severance pay and pay for unused vacation time, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The two lost their jobs Sept. 7.

In addition to the severance and unused vacation time, the two seek punitive damages, attorneys’ fees and court costs.

Last week, Select Snacks told Indiana officials that it might close its Jeffersonville plant in December. About 245 jobs are at stake.
