The donation, the largest in the hospital's history, will be announced officially at noon at the foundation's annual luncheon. The announcement will be made by Jackie Simon, a member of the foundation's board of governors and wife of Simon Property Group Chairman and CEO David Simon.
The $475 million, 675,000-square-foot tower is to open in phases beginning in 2009 and be finished by 2013.
It will result in a net gain of 100 beds, and expand emergency room services and an obstetrics unit for high-risk deliveries, among other provisions.
