Officials and business owners in Yorktown say employees of Marsh Supermarkets claim the grocery store chain is considering moving jobs to their town from the company’s Indianapolis headquarters.
However, The Star-Press of Muncie reported, Marsh wouldn’t confirm or deny the talk. Also, Roy Budd, who leads a Muncie-area economic development group called Energize-ECI, cautioned that the rumors are speculation.
Marsh was headquartered in Yorktown, which is near Muncie, until the move to Indianapolis in 1991. Marsh still has a warehouse in Yorktown.
The company was acquired in 2006 by Sun Capital Partners, a Florida private equity firm, for $88 million.
