Browning Investments, the Indianapolis developer that has built projects ranging from the NCAA headquarters to the downtown Marriott Hotel, is considering building a four-star hotel in downtown Evansville near the Aztar Casino and a possible new arena desired by some Evansville boosters.
Browning said a new arena and other attractions would lure convention traffic, and that Evansville has too little in the way of modern hotels that would interest corporate travelers, according to the Evansville Courier & Press.
Evansville officials are studying whether to replace Roberts Municipal Stadium, which hosts concerts and other events. A consulting group has suggested a 10,000-seat venue costing about $92 million.
