As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowAuthor Solutions Inc. will transfer jobs from China to its home base in Bloomington as part of an expansion announced today.
The provider of self-publishing services will spend $4.5 million on the consolidation, which will add 140 jobs to its headquarters.
Author Solutions already employs 230 in Bloomington, and another 50 in Indianapolis. It maintained a publishing operation in Shanghai.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Author Solutions up to $575,000 in tax credits and up to $100,000 in training grants. Monroe County and the Bloomington Economic Development Corporation also will give the company a property tax abatement.
Author Solutions wants to hire employees for creative, customer service and technology positions.
The company started as AuthorHouse in 1997, then was acquired by California-based Bertram Capital in 2006.
Author Solutions expects to publish nearly 17,000 titles for U.S. distribution this year.
