As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowSunrise Greetings, a unit of Hallmark Cards Inc., plans to stop manufacturing cards in Bloomington in early 2009, eliminating as many as 60 jobs there.
Sunrise told employees yesterday that card manufacturing will be consolidated into a plant near Hallmark’s headquarters in Kansas City, Mo.
About 160 workers will stay in Bloomington. Those workers are involved in sales, customer service, product development, distribution, information technology, human resources and finance.
Sunrise was founded in Bloomington in 1974 to exploit a market for what the company now calls “contemporary social expression products.” It was acquired by Hallmark in 1998.
