    1. These are not your old nuclear reactors. There is no resemblance to the old technology. AND, if we really get smart we can go to the same thing the Chinese are doing and that is to go to Thorium reactors, which don’t use uranium and don’t produce the highly toxic waste. These technology is not new. The reason the U.S. went to uranium based technology was to also produce weapons. A thorium reactor does not do this.
And by the way, no matter what we are doing, the Chinese are building coal fired plants at the rate of 1 a day. So no matter what we do, it won’t improve the air. Waite till we have something like what Texas had last winter and people will really be glad they got rid of coal. So called “green” energy, at least right now is a PIPE DREAM! The other alternative is to financially help individual homeowners and businesses to employ solar and energy saving technology to supplement energy usage. As long as solar and wind are a “use it or lose it” technology it will NEVER be dependable.

    2. Neil D. ~ Solar and wind are no longer “use it or lose” resources. New storage (battery) technology has changed that.

    1. Get a grip JL. Our kids are a big part of the market that is driving the change to solar and wind power sources because they, unlike you, clearly see how fossil fuels have put their planet at risk. And they want to see a paradigm shift in how we power the future. Your mindset is both ignorant and outdated. Get over it.

  1. Agree with Brent B. I actually read this article and was pleased to see and hear that AES was/is doing something and moving in a positive direction. I think it is easy to sit there and criticize especially from a keyboard/computer. Enjoy your weekend and know that a cleaner way to generate electricity is coming.
