Edme, whose first name is pronounced “Beer-shell,” will move to the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts from her role as anchor on the 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. Fanchon Stinger, who will retire in May, serves as a Fox59 anchor on the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts.
On the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts, Edme will join co-anchor Dan Spehler and meteorologist Brian Wilkes.
A native of Philadelphia, Edme joined the Fox59 staff in March 2019. She previously worked at stations in North Carolina, Ohio and Iowa.
“It’s an honor to be entrusted with this new role as main anchor and serve central Indiana in a greater capacity,” Edme said in a written statement. “Every day, Hoosiers allow me into their homes and their families, and that invitation comes with a great responsibility,”
In 2021, Edme won a Lower Great Lakes Emmy Award in the news anchor category.
Stinger, who joined the Fox59 staff in 2010, outlined plans to focus on a new production company as well as speaking, teaching and hosting opportunities throughout the United States when announcing her TV news retirement last week on social media.
