We love our PHEV sedan. It’s the best of both worlds and the companies really dropped the ball on them. Most companies don’t even produce them anymore. It’s a shame. The government can’t force feed EV cars onto people. It won’t work and most people can’t afford it anyways.
The government isn’t “force feeding” electric vehicles onto anybody. Auto and truck manufacturers have concluded on their own that EVs are the future, and are voluntarily phasing out gas-powered vehicles in order to make the switch-over for the 21st century. With a healthy supply of electric cars and trucks of difference sizes and amenities the prices will come down, making them affordable to a broad spectrum of buyers.
Until they can get charging to a time closer to filling a tank with fuel, they shouldn’t invest too much in the infrastructure. If something like the 5 minute full charge shown by StoreDot can truly be achieved, then the use of EVs nationwide starts to make a lot more sense. Taking 30 minute so an hour…. not so much.
This is great news! It will make long-distance trips much more feasible and help accelerate consumers investment in EVs.
I’m still curious where the electricity is going to come from to feed this infrastructure.
The U.S. electrical grid… currently 60% fossil fuels, but rapidly decreasing. Depends heavily on region.
They need to find a way to recycle the EV batteries. This is also an environmental issue.
