When is Biden going to pay his fair share for all the bribes he received laundered through his crack head son?
What did Jared Kushner receive in exchange for the Saudi’s $2 billion investment in Kushner’s fund and covering up the murder of the journalist Khosshoggi?
How about both eliminate the tax loopholes that the wealthy use to pay less than their fair share of taxes and reduce wasteful spending?
When Obama left office the annual deficit was $500 billion. When Trump left it was over $1 trillion. Now it’s $1.3 to $1.6 trillion. We can keep letting the wealthy not pay their fair share of taxes and continue wasteful spending.
Mark B.
The deficit and debt are not the probloms that they are because of the wealthy
not paying their fair share. That is pure leftwing nonsense.
It’s nothig but class warfare b.s.
The wealthy pay the bulk of the federal income taxes already and have
for a very long time.
If we are serious about bringing down the deficits and debt, then we need to —-
1). Broaden the tax base. Right now only 50 % of American earners are paying
federal income taxes.
2). Cut spending. Stop spending money we don’t have. Delegate much more
to the states. Let the states decide what they want to spend their money
on and how much they want to spend. The federal government needs
to step back and let the the states take care of themselves.
Why does everything have to come from the federal government.
The states can sort things out. The best managed states will prevail
and draw the most economic development.
But one thing for sure. Everyone should pay federal income taxes regardless
of income.
I love that Trump spent 6 years screaming MAGA – then Biden is working to implement the same tax and social structures that existed in the 50s that created the golden age of American…. and some Republicans are calling him a socialist for actually trying to make America competitive again…
Performative governance cares not for making sense… it’s all about yelling loudly until facts don’t matter.
Truth is both parties point the finger but both parties are guilty.
Neither party can claim
Spending must be cut. We need to stop treating people like
blind lost puppies in need of government paternalism.
There probably wouldn’t be the drug problem that we currently have.
The Golden was a time when the U.S. was the only major country
whose factories and infrastructure were not damaged or destroyed
from the Second World War. So yes!!! We were the main producers
and exported much product.
The golden era also had tax rates for the ultra rich well over 90%. We’ve been cutting the tax rate on top earners since Reagan and it’s pretty well established trickle down is a fraud.
Cut spending? Be specific. If you’re not cutting spending on Medicare, Social Security, or the military, you’re just wasting your time.
https://taxfoundation.org/historical-income-tax-rates-brackets/
If you believe that Biden is working to “implement the same tax and social structures that existed in the 50s” I have a bridge to sell you.
In the 1950s, the Dems represented a genuine foil to the elite moneyed interests of the GOP. Yes, they were teeming with southern segregationists, but they were still the party of unions and newly naturalized immigrants in the big cities of the north.
Does that sound anything like the Dems of today?
Instead of competing for the affections of the moneyed corporatists, the Dems and old-school GOPers are partnering to gain their affections in equal measure, then split the spoils among them, while leaving the other 50% not tied to corporatism or identity politics to rot. All this leaves is a subset of the GOP that the neo-cons call “low quality”, shunning them much the same way the business GOPers shunned the black voters subjugated by Dixiecrats in the 1950s and early 1960s. Too much of a risk overturning the apple cart to take on those minorities disenfranchised by Dixiecrat vote-rigging back then.
Why is a far-right extremist like me still a better Marxist than most leftoids today? Why is the modern GOP so eager to hobble the gift horse looking it right in the mouth?
What gift horse? Why do you insist the the modern GOP is going to turn out any different than the previous GOP?
Like it’s going to turn out well when they give their voters what they think they want? They’re not going to actually do that.
The same voters in Kentucky who hated Obamacare yet love the state expansion of health care that’s funded by the Affordable Care Act … not realizing that they’re the same thing, voting for folks like Matt Bevin because they hated Obamacare and realizing after the election that, wait a minute, they just voted their health care away. Did you see folks like Bevin actually abolish Obamacare? Of course not, that would have been career suicide!
Witness the quick pivot by the GOP from abortion to blaming everything on LGBTQ folks … have to have a new carrot to keep people voting for the GOP. It’s all the fault of the gays now. It wouldn’t be because … their voters are actually not all the supportive of their draconian abortion laws the GOP has to implement to keep the far right abortion fringe happy, are they?
Anything to stay in power, just like it was before. And if that’s going to be the case, why vote for fools like Banks or Rokita or Diego Morales, much less the national variants who like Gaetz or MTG or Boebert. Because they’re using you the exact same way politicians have for years.
What exactly is your real alternative? Fascism?
Any time politicians say “tax the rich”, it just means the middle class will be squeezed even harder by higher taxes and lower socialist benefit given by the federalies for “all”
..
Exactly. This is virtue signaling to appease the useful idiots.
The programs being proposed cannot be funded by the ultra-wealthy because there aren’t enough of them.
The uniparty isn’t going to stick it to their donor base. They’ll make moderate tweaks to the tax code for the ultra wealthy but in the end it will affect those who can’t afford the top-dollar accountants who find the loopholes, or those who can’t off-shore most of their earnings in the Virgin Islands.
At one point in time, the Democrats generally represented a voice against GOP elitism. Now they’re more elitist than the GOP could ever dream of being…but a huge portion of the old-school GOP still shuns the working class that the Dems have discarded.
Tax and spend. A winning combo for the politico class. Vote them out!
