  1. The GOP moaned, groaned and fought the $800 billion ARRA in 2009 because what it did to the deficit. Now most economists agree that given the depth of that financial crises it should have been double that. But that’s OK because that allowed the GOP to moan and groan about the slowness of the recovery so they could win back the WH. When they finally have the WH they immediately pass a tax cut for the wealthy which is currently estimated to add up to $2 Trillion to the deficit, but the GOP didn’t care about it then. Now it’s up to the Dems to fix the GOP’s fractured economy again, and the GOP have a sudden and deep concern for the deficit again. The shtick is getting old.

    1. There you have it, Greg: Republicans bad, Democrats will save us! Such simplicity!

Talk about a shtick getting old, how about the idea that Republicans are the party of the wealthy and Democrats the party of the poor working man? Pay attention: That train left decades ago.

Speaking of trains, consider the wealthy donors who financed O’Biden’s campaign. For starters, investigate all the money Warren Buffet’s trains and tank cars will continue making now that numb-nuts has cancelled the Trans-Alaska pipeline, ostensibly for environmental reasons even though transport by rail tankers poses greater environmental risk than pipeline’s constructed with today’s safeguards and technology, not to mention the pollution created by the engines needed to pull the trains.

Joe B. is right; people are falling for all manner of nonsense regarding political motivations, although, like you, Joe B. can’t see the forest for the Democrat’s trees, either.

    2. Hey Bob – focus. But I’m all for changing America over to publicly funded elections and banning all campaign contributions anytime you want to discuss the topic.

In an example of history repeating itself, a Democratic president has to fix the mess left behind by a Republican president. Perhaps, this time we should try making the mistake of spending too much money as opposed to not enough money. We tried recovery on the cheap in 2009… didn’t work.

Where were these Republicans who cared so much about this proposal the last six months? How come they didn’t pass this proposal, or any proposal, out of the Senate and make it the House’s problem?

If the Republicans were truly interested in a bipartisan bill, all 50 of them would’ve put their name on this. That only 20% of the Republican caucus is willing to put their name on this tells you what you need to know about the GOP these days.
