The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, Newfields, Indianapolis Zoo and the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art all plan to open in some capacity this month, although full plans are still being decided in some cases.
Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett on Thursday announced that Marion County’s cultural, entertainment and tourism sites would be allowed to reopen at 50% capacity starting June 19.
Children’s Museum of Indianapolis
The Children’s Museum on Friday said it would reopen on a gradual basis, with a date for a full reopening to the general public still being determined.
On June 20, the museum plans to host a private reopening with a “small internal audience” that is “far below the 50% capacity regulations set forth by the mayor and governor.”
On June 24, the museum is scheduled to open to donor families only. On June 29, it will open to member and donor families.
The museum said a public reopening date will be announced later this month.
Visitors 2-years-old and older will be required to wear facemasks.
Newfields
Newfields said Friday that it plans to reopen outdoor spaces to members on June 23 and to the public on June 25.
Outdoor spaces on the 152-acre campus include The Garden, The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park and The Beer Garden.
Indianapolis Zoo
The zoo said it plans to open June 19 at limited capacity.
Guests and members will need to obtain timed-entry tickets in advance online. They are expected to arrive near the time on their tickets and wait at their vehicles until the exact entry time.
The zoo plans to implement numerous safety and social distancing guidelines that are spelled out on the zoo’s website.
Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art
The Eiteljorg plans to open to members only from June 20 to June 26, then open to the public on June 27.
