Therefore, it should surprise no one that the virus is now raging across the state, in schools, nursing homes and even into the inner circle of our governor. We don’t yet know how much damage this will cause, only that we could have done so much better.
The parallels to climate change are plentiful. It’s an entirely predictable, and eminently avoidable, catastrophe. There’s enough sadness in the air now to make a graphic description of the fallout from an unstable climate inappropriate here. Instead, let me tell you that there’s still time to flatten the climate curve. Carbon fee and dividend legislation is recognized by economists and scientists as an effective way to decrease carbon emissions while supporting the economy. While we return to (or continue) spending more time at home, something we can all do remotely is to contact our representatives and ask them to respond immediately to the warning signs flashing all around us.</
