  1. I remember voting on a bond issue at least 15 years ago that would bring the schools up to modern standards through new construction and rehab.

    Sadly, IPS does not appear to be good stewards of rehabbed schools, instead deferring maintenance until it becomes a “capital project”.

  2. I suspect another factor in their decision is the state law that forces them to give any unused property to a charter school operator for $1… even if it’s worth millions like Broad Ripple High School.

    1. Yep, agreed with Joe B. Not sure how they can solve this problem without creating another. This schooling “trend” is happening everyday. All my friends who now have kiddos lived in starter homes, and have recently moved to better school districts. Even my wife is trying to get us to move outside the 465 loop and we don’t have kids.
