  1. Yes, I’d say we’re in a great position to waive Leonard. A Pro-Bowler that has been one of the few bright spots on the team. Oh wait, we did the same thing to #18 and we’re still experiencing the fall-out from that move. We can’t get out of our own way.

    1. LOL, have you watched him the last two seasons? He has 42 tackles, ZERO sacks, ZERO forced fumbles, and 1 interception. He’s top 7 in salary at his position with that kind of production… they are doing exactly what they need to be doing which is bye bye!

    2. Exactly. Franklin and Speed have stepped up in his place and earned their way in. Our defensive issues have more to do with the secondary than the linebackers.

    3. Are you kidding me. Unfortunately Shaq only gets in tackles when the runner is already 7 yards downfield. I doubt he is picked up. Certainly this will likely be his last season in the NFL

  2. Great player, but injuries have taken their toll. I’m guessing the waiver has a lot to do with his impact (negative) on the locker room (generally) and defense (specifically).

Can’t imagine him playing anywhere else for what he thinks he’s worth.

  3. I get the move, but it sure is surprising how far Shaq’s star has fallen due to injuries. I hope he lands somewhere and gets to make an impact. He’s too good to go out like so many Colts WRs over the years.

  4. It’s a business plain & simple – as Joe A. pointed out and the article confirmed, his sack/interception/forced fumble/etc. numbers have plummeted to virtually zero this year. No production = no employment….kinda like all of us in our jobs, but it’s easier for NFL owners to “fire” (i.e. waive) their contracted employees.
He was an OUTSTANDING player while he was healthy and reportedly an even better person within his communities. It’s tough to see injuries rob him of his livelihood in a sport he obviously loved to play. Hope he can find success in another business, which he was going to have to do eventually…..this just brought it to the forefront sooner than he probably planned.
