COVID-19 cases rise by 241 in Indiana, deaths by 29

The Indiana State Department of Health on Saturday reported 241 new COVID-19 cases, marking the 18th straight daily report with fewer than 500 cases.

The department reported 29 new deaths from COVID-19, raising the cumulative death tally to 13,375.

The state said more than 2.73 million Hoosiers have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. More than 2.75 million had received the first dose of a two-dose vaccination.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 dropped from 457 on Thursday to 444 on Friday, the lowest number since the opening weeks of the pandemic. Hospitalizations are down from a recent high of 1,019 on May 4. The pandemic-high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

** The health department reports the 7-day positivity rates with a six-day lag to allow time for more comprehensive results.
