COVID-19 hospitalizations in Indiana hit lowest mark since June 26

The Indiana State Department of Health on Thursday reported 922 new cases of COVID-19, the 13th time in the past 14 days in which daily cases have been below 1,000.

The state reported also 32 new deaths due to the coronavirus. The department said 5,932 new individuals were tested.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 decreased from 657 on Tuesday to 598 on Wednesday, the lowest number since June 26. The high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.

The state said more than 771,000 Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Thursday at 5 a.m. More than 1.2 million had received the first dose of a vaccination.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

Cumulative positivity rate unique individuals: 21.2%

Seven-day positivity rate unique individuals: 8.6%**

Cumulative positivity rate all tests: 9.6%

Seven-day positivity rate all tests: 3.1%**

** The health department reports the 7-day positivity rates with a six-day lag to allow time for more comprehensive results.

First dose administered: 1,203,613 (daily increase of 25,386)

Fully vaccinated: 771,091 (daily increase of 26,392)

Indiana intensive care unit usage

Available ICU beds: 32.5 %

ICU beds in use by COVID-19 patients: 4.5%

Available ventilators: 80.5%

Ventilators in use for COVID-19: 1.5%

Global cases: 118,176,526

Global deaths: 2,622,469

*New cases, deaths and tests are previously unreported cases, deaths and tests submitted to the Indiana State Health Department in the 24 hours through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. The cases and testing categories typically contain numerous duplicates—as many as 20% or more—that are later eliminated from the cumulative totals.
