9 thoughts on “Democratic governor nominee blasts GOP-led diploma redesign

  1. This proposal for new diploma requirements is a complete disaster. If you want to create an option for kids going into trades to opt out of some advanced curriculum, that’s fine as long as they’re still getting a well-rounded education to make them a good overall citizen. But there’s no reason to destroy the future of the kids aiming for higher education in the process. It’s a completely unnecessary self-own.

Future governor McCormick is right to call it out along with most major public universities in Indiana. You know who hasn’t called it out? Braun and Beckwith because they’re too focused on continuing the GOP war on public education and forcing their religious views into policy that is bad for the freedom of all Indiana citizens. They keep talking about turning Indiana into Florida or Texas. Indiana has its own unique character and history worthy of preserving. I don’t know why they are so hell bent on destroying it.

  2. A constant race to the bottom. The successful states are investing in themselves and education, not re-working their public education systems to become pipelines for mega-corporations and their warehouses. It’s all so disgusting.

  3. The choice this November will be choosing between a person that can engage in thoughtful, intelligent discussion about policies in our state and who can lead us into the future (McCormick) vs. 4 years of using the highest state government office and taxpayer resources to engage in culture war nonsense 24/7 (Braun/Beckwith).

    1. And she will lose by 15 points because she’s running an ineffective campaign, just like every statewide Democrat before her.

It’s like watching the Colts play a bunch of sixth graders.

  4. McCormick is absolutley right. Education in Indiana has been going in the wrong direction under Republican leadership. Time for a change. McCormick is the right candidate to fix this critical issue.

  5. Maybe some have forgotten…the republican party is not the party of education. In fact they scorn the educated. This inititive should come as no surprise. “Education is supposed to juice your curiosity, not diminish or sate it.” Walter Isaacson
