    1. I have had coverage denied from a major carrier for a fairly common procedure. The carrier literally has no coverage for this particular surgical procedure in Central Indiana. IU Surgery centers are “out of network”. Two of three bills have been appealed successfully, but not without maybe 50-100 hours on the phone and providing documentation. I’m glad I’m retired, otherwise I wouldn’t have the time to handle it. I still home one $5K bill outstanding from January of 2023, but now the coding has been corrected by the provider, it may be settled in the next 90 days.

      The US Healthcare Industry (not “system”) is out of control. I can understand people’s frustration when lives or bankruptcy are on the line.
