Patricio and Kelly Daneri, whose daughters Kate and Claire attend kindergarten at the school, have donated $1 million to the international school’s unified campus campaign.
Announced earlier this year, the fundraising campaign, called One ISI, aims to raise about $7 million to build a new elementary building on the school’s main campus on Michigan Road in Indianapolis.
Right now, ISI pre-elementary and elementary-aged students attend school in a building at 200 W. 49th St.
“We believe in this school and the way its distinct academics will help shape our children to be successful in their personal and professional lives,” Patricio Daneri said in a written statement. “We are proud that this gift brings the school closer to the goal of a unified campus and that it will benefit not only our daughters, but all of our fellow ISI families because we are a special community.”
With the Daneri family donation, the school is just $400,000 short of its initial fundraising goal.
Stanley and Allison Chen gave $1.5 million in September 2019 to help launch the campaign.
The new school building will be named after the Chens, and a gymnasium in the building will be named after the Daneri family.
“The Daneri family’s generous gift continues the great momentum our campaign has enjoyed since launching publicly in September,” Elizabeth Head, ISI’s Head of School, said in a written statement. “We are hopeful that gifts inspired by the Daneris could push us well beyond that goal.”
Construction on the 45,000-square-foot building will begin next year. It is expected to open for the 2021-2022 school year.
