But if all of the backwards knuckle-draggers south of I-70 can’t roll coal on libt*rds what’s the point of even having a truck?
A bad move unless Level Three charging stations, or whatever ends up surpassing them, becomes widely available. I suspect gasoline won’t lose majority share of vehicles until another liquid form based fuel is introduced. Laughably, this will probably occur after significant investment in electrification infrastructure.
Luckily the executives at companies like Ford and GM are knowledgeable about their industries. If they/the government want to go electric, then that’s what will happen. You’re going to experience a boom in electric charging stations shortly. It’s actually been happening for a while now.
I feel like you think youre adding something to this conversation, but you actually aren’t.
I actually do not care what you think.
Has any man stood on the shoulders of others more decent, accomplished, and qualified than has Joe Biden? If only one report of this fine new product could be written without Biden’s stupid name in it somewhere in the report…and I say that as a Ford stockholder who is happy to see the product rolled out.
I’m pretty confused by the anger in your post. Electric vehicles are going to require a huge boost from the Feds to have any chance of reaching the kind of growth goals that Ford and others are banking on… You think having the support of the President is not a good thing for Ford? You think having this President openly supporting American manufacturing is not a good thing?
You are delusional, Charles M. Biden has done nothing but generally destroy American jobs since taking office, starting with cancelling the pipeline so major contributor Warren Buffet’s railroads can continue transporting much of that same oil on more-dangerous rail cars. Get real; Biden is a consummate loser of the first order, doing the bidding of his America-hating handlers.
I’m curious about this claim that it can “power a house” – this seems to be niche and unlikely scenario, even for owners of this truck. The reporting I’m seeing says that it requires some new Ford charger be hardwired in your home, requiring installation of a significant amount of new electrical gear ($$$). Also, AES/IPL and other energy companies already offer residential low-cost peak-metered EV-charging electrical rates, but only if have that EV on an appropriate secondary meter – is it going to be possible to access these rates (~75% discounted EV charging rates off-peak!) with Ford’s backup power solution?
The tech sounds great, but I think relying on good-old-gas for backup power is a far safer solution, and probably more cost-effective.
Ford has done some amazing things in the last 10 years. The twin-engine V6 turbo is a phenomenal piece of engineering.
I would bet that the Lighting will be the top electric pickup in the market. The 230 miles range is not enough for most truck owners because I’m sure in actual driving conditions will be 20% less and forget about towing.
We should praise the American engineers for what they are accomplishing. I’ll continue to drive my V8 gas-guzzling full-size truck because I can!
