  1. F1 is so arrogant. The fact that Andretti even wants to join F1 makes me dislike them a little, too. I will never, ever forget the 2005 race and the disrespect F1 showed our city and our Speedway.

    1. I agree, LeAnn. The F1 teams don’t really want to compete with the Andretti drivers because Andretti’s drivers are superior in skill. And yes, after the Speedway spent millions to build a world-class F1 track, they used it for a few races and then virtually flipped the US off.

  2. For an organization that prides itself on being the best how can they get something as simple as this so wrong. Even though it sounds like that meeting would not have changed anything. I was starting to like F1 again, but this rejection of Andretti and GM is unprofessional much like sending an email and saying they didn’t answer us. To top it off the personal attacks on Andretti in their rejection are as unprofessional as it gets. I really wish Andretti and GM would walk away but I also understand you will put up with about anything if you want it bad enough. I hope the American audience responds appropriately. We don’t need F1. We have plenty of great racing series.

  3. Business 101 in digital world: If a person doesn’t respond to an email confirming or rejecting a meeting, they would otherwise be unaware of, then the onus is on the sender to make sure the person received the email. It’s a pretty poor business practice on F1’s part to not follow-up on an email to confirm it was received knowing the topic was important to the receiver.

But as others said, it sounds like F1 had already made up their mind anyway.

  4. I wonder if Andretti spent some of this time, energy, and money on their IRL teams if they couldn’t improve on their yearly standings in that league and offer more of a challenge to Ganassi and Penske? Their top finisher last year was Herta in 10th place.
