Called, “Indy Now,” WXIN-TV Channel 59’s hour-long program will go head-to-head against WISH-TV Channel 8’s lifestyle show “Indy Style,” which has been airing since 2010.
The new show will be hosted by former Fox59 and WTTV-TV Channel 4 reporter Jillian Deam and singer-songwriter Ryan Ahlwardt, who spent five years with the well-known a cappella group Straight No Chaser.
“Indy Now,” which is set to fill the time slot currently occupied by “The Drew Barrymore Show,” will cover local entertainment, events, businesses and trends, Fox59 said.
“The launch of ‘Indy Now’ is a great opportunity to showcase all the great events and exciting businesses in Indianapolis,” said Dominic Mancuso, vice president and general manager of WXIN and WTTV, in written remarks. “We’re proud of our community and are excited to give the viewers this entertaining look at everything that makes Indy great.”
Ahlwardt, a Hamilton Southeastern High School and Indiana University graduate, was a singer, writer and arranger for Straight No Chaser from 2007-2012. Since then, he has operated a Fishers-based business, RyanSongs Inc., which offers voiceover, arranging, songwriting and voice coaching services.
No stranger to broadcasting, Ahlwardt, has co-hosted “Radio Theology” on WZPL-FM 99.5 since 2016.
Deam most recently has been working as a Pacers host and on-court emcee with the NBA, as well as a fitness instructor at The Hot Room Indianapolis.
The Butler University graduate was a reporter and fill-in anchor at Fox59 and CBS4 from 2014-2018.
