Nobody wearing masks!! Very sad.
I’m vaccinated and boosted so I don’t have to wear a pointless chin diaper unless it’s absolutely required for admission to a venue or event. It’s nothing more than a silly political emblem – I know plenty of people who have worn masks religiously who have contracted the virus and plenty others who haven’t worn them at all who haven’t contracted it. Vaxxed or unvaxxed. Many friends of mine who are doctors never wear them outside of the hospital or their practices. So…whine all you want, but your “very sad” comment is laughable.
As to Michael Q., I can only reference Dirty Harry: “Feeling lucky, Michael?” Anyway, Holcomb should’ve remembered to give the federal government a big wet kiss for the infusion of money into the Indiana economy. And if Holcomb is happy with our population growth, he’d better change parties, because as a whole, it is urban/suburban areas growing, definitely less Republican than the rural areas that are shrinking. And back to Michael… there’s such a thing as karma. If there’s one lesson we’ve learned from this pandemic, it is unpredictable and karma seems to run concurrently with the virus. I wouldn’t laugh yet.
I’ll take my chances, Ronny. As I stated, I’m vaxxed and boosted and have done enough research on masks to know they don’t do much other than make a political statement. I also exercise daily, don’t eat crap, don’t smoke and have zero comorbidities so I’ve taken responsibility for myself and my family to put myself in position to be fine should I get COVID. Masks don’t do anything.
Unless he is negotiating with legislators behind closed doors and exhibiting an unseen strength, Holcomb appears to cede too much authority to them on matters that, well, really matter. And this not only makes him a weak executive, it puts him in a deeper hole with every successive issue where there is disagreement. If the Republican legislators get their way, Indiana will rank right down there with the deep red states in the south – and that is not a place any of us should want to be. Holcomb needs to believe in himself and fight for his convictions (assuming he has some), and take his place on the Bully Pulpit and lead.
The bad to overcome vetos is too low in Indiana, it’s a simple majority. We have an intentionally weak governor here in Indiana, which is troublesome when the majority party is … let’s just say out there.
It’s laughable that he’s taking credit for building infrastructure when not a single Republican Congressional representative or Senator from Indiana voted for the infrastructure bill.
Nor should they have, Randy; if there was ever a mis-named bill so as to lead people to believe it was something other than the Democrat’s pork-barrel nonsense for dozens of other liberal, cultural-destroying wet dreams, this was it.
Bob P, you’re thinking of the BBB plan. The infrastructure bill was passed months ago: The 69-30 vote was bipartisan, with 19 Republicans joined the Democratic caucus to pass the legislation. So I guess 19 Republicans are having wet dreams too, including Trump stalwarts Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell. My point that there wasn’t a single INDIANA Republican that voted for it – not even in the House – but Holcomb took credit and his supporters at the SOTS speech cheered him on. Hypocrites!
Randy S. ~ You have to understand that Bob P. is often ill-formed and rants about things he knows little about.
Some people aren’t good at doing their own research.
IBJ— how dare he “paint a rosy economic picture “ of an economy in great shape? As you can see from the comments, your Democrat readers will pull a muscle trying to come up with negatives. They don’t need your help.
Hey Chuck, dd you listen to the SOTS speech? Or read a newspaper in the last 20 years?
Indiana is ranked at #34 overall by USNWR, so 72% are better. We are near the bottom of the rankings for obesity, smoking, infant mortality, environmental issues, and health care. In the bottom third of higher education, and no better than middle of the road for most every other measure.
And let’s not forget that one very important reason the state is in fine financial shape is all the federal stimulus money that poured in, over the protest of Republicans.
But pat yourself on the back for a full bank account without saying how the feds helped us get here, and then proceed with plans to disgorge the “excess” to taxpayers in a special refund this tax filing season, and chop the taxes on businesses – God forbid we spend at least half of the surplus on our obviously pressing needs.
END THE STATE OF EMERGENCY
Dope!
