He takes away a woman’s right to choose and gives them a $200 tax rebate. What could be more fair than that?
Taking away “Women’s right to choose….”
…Or “their right to murder the defenseless, innocent human life …”
…depending on how you look at it…
I for one can’t get too worked up because I see both sides. How about we stop having casual sex without regard (responsibility) for the consequences? Our society needs more people to take responsibility for their actions!!!
Donnie, what proof do you have that “casual sex” is the cause for most abortions? Regardless, if that is true it is wrong for the state to punish women (but not the participating male) for their action. What becomes of the unwanted child? Neither parents want it, and state in ill-prepared to take it. Your supported position – which assumes everyone will somehow always act responsibly, or be forced to have a child – will create unintended consequences for everyone. But we both know we don’t live in a perfect world.
“House and Senate leaders are pledging a fresh look at expanding prenatal screenings, child care, and other services, to handle the expected increase in births. Hours before passing the abortion ban, legislators approved $87 million for wraparound services. LaGrange Senator Susan Glick (R) says they’ll take a fresh look at those programs when the new session starts in January.
Glick says many women testified they opted for abortion because they lacked the resources to handle pregnancy or motherhood. “I hope and pray we can tell the women of Indiana that should not be a choice they have to make in the future,” Glick says.”
So we could have reduced abortions a long time ago … not by banning abortion, but by reducing the demand for abortion. Which we could have done if we had actual pro-life legislators, not just anti-abortion legislators.
https://www.wibc.com/news/local-indiana/indianas-next-task-after-abortion-ban-beefing-up-prenatal-and-postnatal-services/
Its really sickening to see so many people worked up over what a complete stranger decides to do with their own GOD giving body. First it was the HUGE back and forth on it the government had the right to force every citizen to get the covid vaccine. Now states are denying you the ability to choose when or why a woman can have an abortion. This topic is clearly a state and religion topic and religious views and opinions has NO place in politics because everyone isn’t religious let alone believe in the same religion or GOD. So if its clear that we are a country of many religions and beliefs, why would we allow politics to be made with religious views? If we are allowing it, which religion or doctrine are we using to make our laws for the people of Indiana? Protestant, Catholic, none denomination ect are all Christians but have very different doctrines and theologies. So who’s deciding what’s right here? If Indys tourism tank because of this law, Holcomb will lose re election.
Holcomb is prevented from running again in 2024. And even if he’d vetoed the bill, all it would take is a majority of the House and Senate to override it.
Welcome to Indiana
Last one to leave, turn off the lights.
We already have friends discussing to sell and move. Remote work/ flexible schedules and high income earners can and will do it.
