  1. It’s darn near criminal to even talk about more tax cuts with Indiana needing to spend more on mental health and infrastructure these days.

Some of these legislators should really take the Parable of the Talents to heart the next time it’s preached at their local church. The lesson preached wasn’t to take what you’ve been given and throw it into a hole because you’re afraid of failure, it was to take what you’ve been given and grow it.

    1. Tennessee also has extremely high property taxes. Memphis Tennessee is one of the worst with their tax rates. And if you live inside the city limits of any big city in Tennessee you basically have to pay double because you pay city property tax and then you have to pay County property tax

  2. It’s just a stupid idea unless The State plans on raising business taxes, which The State is unlikely to do.

Indiana Republicans will bankrupt The State if they continue down this path.

  3. It’s not just the state this plan would injure. It’s the citizens. Reduced revenue means less support for infrastructure, education, social services, mental health, physical health. These things influence businesses looking for a new place to do business. And for college graduates who are deciding whether to stay home in Indiana or move to another state. Indiana loses that latter battle on a pretty regular basis. Fewer businesses investing means fewer job opportunities, and less rewarding jobs and careers.
Indiana should be talking about increased taxes on corporations and higher level earners. Not huge increases, not the TN approach. And preferably NOT on property and sales taxes.
