Indiana COVID-19 case count rises by 955, deaths by 12

The Indiana State Department of Health on Sunday reported 955 new cases of COVID-19. Cases have fallen short of the 1,000 mark 29 times in the past 31 days.

Indiana also reported the deaths of 12 more people from COVID-19, raising the cumulative number to 12,617.

The department reported the testing of 4,920 new individuals.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 decreased from 646 on Friday to 617 on Saturday. The high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.

The state said more than 1.08 million Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Sunday at 5 a.m. More than 1.6 million had received the first dose of a two-dose vaccination.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

** The health department reports the 7-day positivity rates with a six-day lag to allow time for more comprehensive results.

First dose administered: 1,602,873 (daily increase of 17,469)

Fully vaccinated: 1,082,702 (daily increase of 17,232)

Indiana intensive care unit usage

Available ICU beds: 32.8 %

ICU beds in use by COVID-19 patients: 4.9

Available ventilators: 81.3%

Ventilators in use for COVID-19: 1.7%

*New cases, deaths and tests are previously unreported cases, deaths and tests submitted to the Indiana State Health Department in the 24 hours through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. The cases and testing categories typically contain numerous duplicates—as many as 20% or more—that are later eliminated from the cumulative totals.
