The state also reported 58 new deaths due to the coronavirus. Despite significant declines in case counts, reported deaths from COVID-19 remain high in Indiana. The health department has reported 366 new deaths over the past seven days, a daily average of 52.3. That’s up from 264 the previous week, a daily average of 37.7.
Reported deaths due to COVID-19 have exceeded single digits in 119 of the past 120 days.
The department said 5,291 new individuals were tested Sunday.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 ticked up slightly, from 1,287 on Saturday to 1,292 on Sunday, the first increase since Feb. 1. The high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.
The state said more than 223,000 Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as Sunday at 5 a.m. More than 699,000 had received the first dose of a vaccination.
