Indiana COVID cases rise by 701, deaths by 10

The Indiana State Department of Health on Sunday reported 701 new cases of COVID-19, the 16th day in the past 17 in which daily cases have been below 1,000.

The state also reported 10 new deaths due to the coronavirus. The department said 4,829 new individuals were tested.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 rose from 583 on Friday to 604 on Saturday. The high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.

The state said more than 830,000 Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Sunday at 5 a.m. More than 1.27 million had received the first dose of a two-dose vaccination.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

Cumulative positivity rate all tests: 9.5%

Seven-day positivity rate all tests: 3%**

** The health department reports the 7-day positivity rates with a six-day lag to allow time for more comprehensive results.

First dose administered: 1,270,966 (daily increase of 14,639)

Fully vaccinated: 830,862 (daily increase of 14,797)

Boone County cumulative cases: 6,247

Indiana intensive care unit usage

Available ICU beds: 36.9 %

ICU beds in use by COVID-19 patients: 4.6%

Available ventilators: 82%

Ventilators in use for COVID-19: 1.6%

*New cases, deaths and tests are previously unreported cases, deaths and tests submitted to the Indiana State Health Department in the 24 hours through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. The cases and testing categories typically contain numerous duplicates—as many as 20% or more—that are later eliminated from the cumulative totals.
